How Much Does Solar Cost in Toowoomba? 1

Before deciding to invest in solar, many people want to know what upfront costs they’ll need to budget for. There are a number of ways to pay off your solar, and most solar covers its cost within 3-5 years, but the initial investment can vary.

After the Government incentives, the average 6.6kw solar system in Toowoomba will cost between $4,000 and $8,000.

Why does the pricing vary so widely? The most straightforward answer boils down to one word; quality. The quality of the products used, as well as the quality of the installation, both impact the price. While cheaper installations may seem like a good deal at the time, they often don’t last as long, don’t produce as much electricity, and have poorer safety standards.

If you’re looking for a system that will last decades, it’s well worth investing into a long-lasting system with trained professionals, so your system will last 25 years, instead of five.

We have replaced or fixed many sub-standard solar systems. It’s not so cheap when you factor in the cost of replacement, and the additional stress.

But isn’t there a solar rebate?

Depending on your state, there are both state and federal incentives available. The majority of these go directly to the solar installation company, meaning the price you’re quoted already includes these incentives.

Despite the dodgy advertising you might see online, you won’t get paid for installing solar, or get quality solar for free (although good solar will usually pay for itself in just a few years.)

How much does an off-grid solar system cost?

Because off-grid systems don’t have backup power from the grid, they need to be completely self-sustaining. This means they need to be able to cover all the power that the property owner needs, while also storing extra power against a rainy or overcast day.

The average size quality off-grid solar system is around $40,000 to $50,000 and may go as high as $100,000 or above.

The smallest off-grid system supplied and installed by us was $26,000.

Although this might seem steep, it’s generally a cheaper option than having the power connected to a rural property by an energy company; this can be anywhere from $40,000 to much more, plus ongoing energy charges, depending on the property’s distance from the grid.

Are solar rebates available on off-grid solar installations?

Government incentives are available on both off-grid and grid-connected installations. Just as with residential systems, the Government incentives will be applied to your quote, so the price you’re quoted will be the final price.
